Jack Taub, Founder and Visionary.  (1931 - 2011)  After dropping out of school, Jack went into the stamp collecting business and eventually pioneered a new distribution system to the US Postal Service as Chairman and CEO of Scott Publishing Company (the publisher of the postage stamp catalog). That pioneering effort lead to all post offices becoming the retailing operation they currently are. The USPS has earned over $10B on expansion of Taub-originated strategies. For some time, over 33,000 post offices were selling Scott Publishing Company products, exclusively and very profitably.

Jack Taub, proclaimed by Venture Magazine as one of America’s most successful entrepreneurs, has had an incredible impact on American technology. This incredible impact began in the late 1970s. Jack Taub, pioneered the consumer online industry in 1977 creating The Source, which became the model for the consumerization of the Internet and cloud computing. He watched the profound impact the technology had on his young child who was born with cerebral palsy. After selling The Source to Reader’s Digest, in 1980, Mr. Taub decided to dedicate his life and fortune to educate children with special needs. He soon discovered that special needs children were required by law to have an individualized education plan (IEP).

It quickly became apparent to Mr. Taub, who never graduated from high school, that virtually every child receiving a K-12 education is socially or economically disabled in the sense that schools are not providing them the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a living and be successful in a global marketplace. His solution was to customize education for every student and eliminate student boredom which is one of the main causes of high student dropout rates.

This plan would accomplish this goal by making every classroom an “Intellectual Disneyland” so that children would want to attend school, rather than have to attend. In 1982, he committed his life to this goal; vowing not to move forward with this solution unless he could be certain that all the elements were in place to lead to the transformed system of his dreams. And so began one of the longest and most complex journeys in this nation’s history. Jack fulfilled his vision for digital utilities, and has moved on to another, bringing American education into the 21st century. He has dedicated the past thirty years of his life to achieving that goal, and is absolutely serious about creating a better tomorrow for our kids.
